Top Music Attorney Again
In a recent podcast https://youtu.be/_Ygdjr4MAF0?si=ErBuYnmavHrbhOF5, Miss Krystle says:
In this episode of the Top Music Attorney Podcast, Entertainment Attorney, Miss Krystle discusses the growing controversy surrounding Spotify and why many believe the platform is reaching a breaking point. From new premium features to unexpected contract loopholes, Spotify’s latest moves are raising serious questions for both artists and fans. With other streaming services stepping in to lure creators and listeners away, the pressure on Spotify has never been greater.
Independent musicians are now facing tough decisions about whether to stay on Spotify or move to platforms that better support their careers. Between AI music concerns, remix rights, and shifting user expectations, the future of music streaming is rapidly changing.
The best suggestion I can make is to diversify from DSP only distribution. I find that most platforms that sell music except Apple and Amazon have really limited audiences. Bandcamp seems to be the platform that a lot of people I interact with have success with, though I am really underwhelmed with my results. And I feel that some people have really low expectations. I have almost 1.5 million streams in 5 years of releasing music and I’ve only sold about 150 tracks across all sales platforms, mostly on iTunes and Amazon.
